KRC20 Tokens Go Live on Kaspa: Scalability and Innovation in Action

Kaspa's new KRC-20 token standard has officially gone live, thanks to Kasplex, marking an exciting chapter for the project. However, this token standard differs from traditional smart contracts found in Ethereum or other platforms. Instead, it resembles Bitcoin's BRC20 token structure, notably lacking smart contracts at this stage. Despite the absence of smart contracts, the KRC20 token rollout has been highly successful, with a variety of tokens already live. The most popular of these is “Nacho,” a token inspired by Shai Wyborski’s cat, which has become a fan favorite in the community.

In an interview at Token 2049 in Singapore, Shai from Kaspa emphasized the network's impressive performance, processing over 20 million transactions in just 24 hours. To put that into perspective, it would take Ethereum more than a week to handle the same volume. This achievement highlights Kaspa’s remarkable scalability and speed, making it the fastest Proof of Work Layer 1 network in existence today.

While Kaspa is focused on improving its infrastructure, the community eagerly anticipates the introduction of smart contracts in the future, potentially through the upcoming hard fork. As the project progresses, Kaspa continues to push boundaries, offering a unique experience for token creators and traders alike, even without full smart contract functionality yet.
