HarmonyOS NEXT Brings Android Apps via "EasyAbroad" Emulator

📰1 week ago3 views

Huawei’s upcoming HarmonyOS NEXT operating system represents a bold leap into a post-Android future, eliminating Android’s foundational code and focusing on a self-developed ecosystem. However, Huawei users still have an option to run Android apps thanks to an innovative emulator called "EasyAbroad."

What is HarmonyOS NEXT?

HarmonyOS NEXT departs completely from Android, relying on proprietary components like the Harmony kernel, the Cangjie programming language, and the Pangu AI model. As of 2025, all Huawei devices, including the newly launched Mate 70 series, will ship with HarmonyOS NEXT, positioning the OS as a self-reliant platform. Despite its independence, Huawei is rapidly building its native app ecosystem, with plans to expand to 100,000 apps soon.

"EasyAbroad" Emulator: A Bridge to Android

The EasyAbroad emulator, now available in Huawei’s AppGallery, allows users to run Android apps on HarmonyOS NEXT devices. Designed especially for those needing Google Mobile Services (GMS) while traveling outside China, the emulator offers a built-in app store to access popular apps like:

Samsung to Discontinue DeX App for Windows with One UI 7 Update

📰1 week ago3 views

Samsung has officially announced that the DeX for Windows app will no longer be supported following the release of its One UI 7 update. This marks a significant shift for users who have relied on the app to create a desktop-like environment by connecting their Galaxy smartphones to Windows PCs. The change is expected to roll out in early 2025, likely alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

Why the Change?

Samsung recommends users transition to Microsoft’s Phone Link (also called Link to Windows) for seamless PC and phone integration. This app, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, offers features such as:

  • Syncing notifications, calls, and text messages.
  • Running Android apps directly on Windows 11.
  • Managing media playback from the PC.

While Phone Link provides robust connectivity options, it does not replicate the full DeX desktop environment experience, which allowed for drag-and-drop file transfers and a true PC-like interface.

DeX Isn’t Going Away Completely

It’s important to note that this discontinu...

Android 15 Set to Introduce Enhanced Desktop Mode Features

📰8 months ago175 viewsVideo

Google is reportedly working on a significantly improved desktop mode that is expected to debut in Android 15. This development comes as a part of Google’s continuous efforts to enhance the Android experience for its users.

When most people think of desktop mode on Android, they often think of Samsung’s DeX or Motorola’s Ready For platforms. These are indeed among the most advanced custom implementations currently available. However, a lesser-known fact is that there is a Desktop mode in Google’s Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

The concept of a desktop mode on Android isn’t new. It was first introduced with Android 10 back in 2019, not for the average user, but primarily for developers who needed to test how their apps behaved in multi-display scenarios. Since then, Google has been steadily improving this feature, albeit slowly.

Over the years, Desktop mode has seen considerable progress. As of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1, the mode supports features like drag-and-drop, window resizing, and running multiple apps simultaneously. It can now easily handle a side-by-side mode with two apps on screen. More apps can be opened simultan...

How to install apk files on Windows 11 (easy way)

📰2 years ago609 views

Today, I will show you the easiest way to install an Android .apk file on Windows 11 without using an emulator.

You will need the Windows Subsystem for Android™ installed for this method to work. If you don't have it installed, check out my previous tutorial where I demonstrate a quick way to install it, even if it says that your device is not supported.

Step 1:

Open Windows Subsystem for Android™ and enable Developer mode.

Step 2:

Download WSA pacman installer from github and install it:

https://github.com/alesimula/wsa_pacman

Step 3:

Allow ADB debugging and double click the apk file you want to install.
And that was pretty much it, enjoy 😊
Now you can install apk files.

How to install Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 (easy way)

The Android Subsystem, a feature that allows Windows 11 users to run Android apps on their PC, is not currently available in most countries.

So there is high chance that you are getting error "This app will not work on your device.", or you may not see it on the app store at all.

I was surprised how everyone was suggesting the hardest methods to install the Android Subsystem.

So today I will show you the easiest way of getting android apps running on your computer from any country on non insider build of Windows 11.

Open Start and type "Region settings", this will open Settings window.

Step 2:

Change your region to United States (you can change it back later).

Step 3:

Restart the app store.

Step 4:

Head to official Microsoft App store web page of Windows Subsystem for Android™ and click on the "Get in Store app" button which will open the app store.

Why Poweramp is the Best Android Music Player: 10 Key Reasons

📰2 years ago1.4k views

Poweramp is widely regarded as one of the best offline Android music players available, and for good reason. Here are ten key reasons why it was my first app I ever purchased on Google Play store.

It has a sleek, modern interface that is easy to navigate and highly responsive. The app is designed to be easy on the eyes, with a clean and minimalistic look that is visually appealing.

Another great feature of Poweramp is the ability to save settings to a text file and then import them onto other devices. This means that users can easily customize their music listening experience and take it with them wherever they go.

Poweramp also supports radio station streaming from files such as .pls and .m3u formats. This means that users can easily tune into their favorite radio stations and listen to music on the go.

In addition to these features, Poweramp also has a folder view that shows files just like on a computer file explorer. This makes it easy for users to find and access their music files quickly and efficiently.

One of the standout features of Poweramp is its built-in chromecast feature. This allows users to easily stream their music ...
